Abstract
Fossil fuels are the most used energy source but contribute to global warming. Renewable energy, like wind, solar, and hydro, offers sustainable alternatives. In 2020, renewables made up 21% of U.S. electricity generation. Chicago plans to use 25% renewable energy by 2025. Solar panels can lower electricity costs, though battery storage is expensive. Energy-saving practices, like using cold water for laundry, also help reduce consumption. Transitioning to renewables benefits both the environment and the economy.
