Prairie plant roots sink deep to survive the hot and cold extremes of Illinois weather. Similarly to those of the plants, my own roots to nature also sink deep as I make unexpected connections to this grass–dominated land. As a young farm girl, I became in tune with the land as I worked long, hard summer days in my father's soybean fields. Now as an adult, I have circled back to someplace familiar, yet now I have a greater purpose — to help restore and protect this land. I hope my images inspire others to seek, to explore and to make their own connections to the land and the prairie.
