An in-depth look at the importance of food in the lives of human beings and specifically Americans, in a country where in recent years the pursuit of capital has surpassed the need for quality food, this paper details how the Food and Drug Administration and the United States Department of Agriculture have impacted the lives of everyday Americans, and the initial intent of these government sectors. This paper also discusses the manner in which food and livestock are raised and regulated in this country, and how these processes can be improved to better serve the masses. It also investigates the possible origins of the countless outbreaks of foodborne viruses in recent years and the initiatives that can be put in place to control these outbreaks. In addition, this study examines the global impact of food within the United States and the countries it trades with, and what can be done to improve the trade of food on a global level in order to better combat world hunger.
