Event Title
Rwanda: Emerging Economic Giant
Location
SRC 2000
Start Date
28-2-2015 12:30 PM
Description
In the years since the genocide, Rwanda has been improving its economy and health care systems. The government has also been implementing several programs to fight high poverty levels. Our poster highlights Rwanda’s fight against Malaria, as well as its focus on neo-natal care and medical education. As a result of these measures, life expectancy has been improving. Rwanda has also been building its economy through tourism and agricultural exports. In addition, we argue that a healthier population will produce a stronger labor force that will further improve the economy. The government has also implemented a program called “Girinka,” which provides a family with a cow, thus fighting poverty at the local level. We argue that this will eventually benefit the national agenda.
