Abstract
Falls are the most common injury to take place in a healthcare setting and the leading cause of injury-related morbidity and mortality in older adults. Falls lead to a patient’s loss of independence and prolonged hospitalization. Four peer-reviewed nursing research articles published between 2022 and 2025 were reviewed, focusing on staff and patient education, structured rounding, tailored patient teaching, and use of fall risk assessment tools. The literature review revealed that the use of interventional methods and assessment tools increase awareness and understanding for falls, leading to better safety and improved patient outcomes across care settings.
