Corylus colurna is a tall stately tree with flaky bark and a medium to fine textured silhouette. Although it is considered to be tolerant of adverse conditions and adaptable to diverse soil conditions, this species is not commonly used in the landscape. Have seen specimens at Cantigny and Adam’s Park in Wheaton, Illinois grow well for many years and then slowly decline for undetermined reasons.Zone:
