Description

This project covers the formal, iconographic, and historical analyses of the Fieschi Morgan Staurotheke, a piece of artwork created in the Early Byzantine era. In this essay, I will cover what this object physically looks like, what the imagery and craftmanship represents, and its journey through history to eventually become displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This essay will explore what this box was created for and its mysterious origins, as well as its journey through history.
