Description

This project is an art history analysis of a small Hellenistic sculpture, specifically through a queer lens. Historical and contextual evidence, as well as analysis of iconography, are synthesized to consider the possibilities of the sculpture’s subject matter. A possible queer interpretation based on the found evidence is proposed as a challenge to the lack of academic insight into lesbianism in antiquity.
