Description
This project encompasses a review paper synthesizing the existing information of the harms that many prisoners face in the course of incarceration, specifically focusing on the United States prison system. My research will include the increasingly harsh policies and conditions of confinement, the de-emphasis on rehabilitation as a goal of incarceration, the position of power an individual abuses (as a prison guard), comparisons to other countries who do focus more on rehabilitation, and the several psychological changes that prisoners face in order to endure the prison experience.
