Description
The spread of invasive species, like zebra mussels, needs to be controlled. Zebra mussels have greatly damaged the economy and environment in the Chicagoland area. Native species are diminishing because they cannot outcompete with zebra mussels. Very few things are currently being done to manage the spread of zebra mussels or reduce their population. However, laws and practices in states that also have a zebra mussel problem, could work in the Chicagoland area. The control of zebra mussels is important in keeping our environment and economy healthy.
