Description
The United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 15 calls for countries to implement programs that improve life on land, in part by sustainably managing forests. I worked with three organizations that are committed to this goal. At Churchill Woods Forest Preserve, entire volunteer restoration teams work to remove invasive Honeysuckle and Buckthorn. At COD’s outdoor lab, students restore our campus’ natural areas by performing a variety of ecological tasks. On Earth Day, a crowd of volunteers assembled to reforest a reclaimed agricultural field. Participating in these efforts and encouraging others to do so helps us achieve a healthy Earth biome.
